How I Get Hundreds Of Daily Website Visitors For Free!

A Lesson from a Marketing Genius.

Know about "Viral eBooks"?

It's not a new concept I'll admit, but it works like absolute gangbusters. In fact, over the past three years it has personally been responsible for bringing me hundreds of thousands of visitors to just one of my websites. AND - 100% for free.

Getting traffic with Viral eBooks is a "free traffic tactic", which means you're not paying for advertising. But, because you're not paying for this exposure, you need to instead create content that people WANT to pass on.

This takes effort, but if you do it right, it can pay you back hugely. Let's go through it:

Okay - for starters you can create Viral eBooks in two formats:

EXE (executable) format - which means it only works on PC's. This type of eBook looks like a website packaged together.

These types of eBooks look great, and all someone has to do to view it is download and double-click it. But, as mentioned it does only work on PC's, and generally the software to create these types of eBooks isn't free, although it is very affordable. (I personally use the software from eBookCompiler.com which as I write this retails for around $30.)

Alternatively - you can create and distribute Viral eBooks in the hugely popular PDF format. The advantage of PDF is that everyone can read them successfully whether they're viewing your eBook on PC, Mac or "other".

To read PDF successfully, the person who downloaded the eBook needs to have the free Adobe Reader installed on their computer. Most people do, and if they don’t it's a quick download from Adobe.com, so this isn't an issue.

Although PDF’s can be more widely read that EXE style eBooks, they’re not quite as flexible. With EXE's for example you can actually embed video and audio into the eBook. This isn't possible with PDF. With PDF you would need to instead include a link to where the reader can view or download the audio/video online.

So with this in mind, you need to decide what's most important to you and make your choice accordingly for eBook format. I personally don't recommended you create your eBook in both formats, since that just complicates the distribution process in my experience. Stick with one or the other.

For creating Viral PDF's - there's a wide array of software that allows you to create PDF's. Some of this software is free, some mind-bogglingly expensive. To view many available options, simply search Download.com or Tucows.com.

For creating Viral PDF's, I personally use software that I had specially created. And the advantage of my software is that it allows you to easily create fully *brandable* PDF's. This means that people can customize your PDF with their own affiliate or website details.

The benefit of this feature is that it makes it much more likely the PDF will spread far and wide for you as it gives the reader a strong incentive to pass the PDF on as they can now directly profit from it's distribution.

You can get this PDF branding software for free at BrandPDF.com

So those are your two options for eBook formats. Now - how do you make it truly viral?

Well, first of all, decide what kind of visitors you want to your website, and create an eBook on a subject that would interest those people.

Your eBook has to be truly useful, interesting, and credible. Don't create a poor quality eBook since no one will read it, which means of course that no one will visit your site.

You can even include multi-media links within your eBook to related audio and video if you like, making your product even more interesting and unique. These download links lead back to your site of course, which naturally gets you more visitors.

If you're not familiar with a subject matter that would allow you to reach your target audience, you could perhaps have an eBook ghostwritten. There's plenty of Ghostwriters who would bid on a project you list for free at eLance.com.

(Ghostwriters are professional writers who create unique content for you on a subject of your choice, and give you all the rights to it, so you can use it as you choose. Many ghostwriters offer their services very affordably.)
Alternatively - an information-rich interview with an expert in the field could be a good solution. The person you interview gets free advertising that way too of course, so they may well be happy to spend the time.

Such an interview can be done either by email or by phone. The audio of a phone interview would be edited (to remove any mistakes) and then transcribed. Both the audio and transcript can then be offered in the eBook.

In my personal experience, longer interviews (more than just a few simple questions) don't work well by email since it can take the person being interviewed quite a lot of typing, and I find the momentum of the process quickly fades this way with every question asked, which can lead to significant delays.

For this reason, and to keep things quick and easy for the person being interviewed, I have generally gone with phone interviews in the past - one hour of interview generally creates from around 7,000 to 10,000 words of content.

Then after finalizing the recording and tidying the transcript, pass the product by the interviewee before publication to confirm their approval.

And let me stress again - your eBook must be high quality and credible. The higher the quality the further it will spread.

If it's free to give away, maybe aim for an eBook that could sell for $20 comfortably - IF - it was being sold.

Use this as a rough guide to the kind of value you want to aim for with your eBook. The more value you offer in a subject your target market is interested in, the more people will pay attention to it. It's as simple as that.

So finally - how do you make the eBook as viral as possible?

One important point already mentioned more than once is to make the eBook very high quality.

The next important point also touched on is that it is very good to give people strong incentives to pass the eBook on, rather than simply hoping they do. To do this, give them benefits for passing it on. Particularly - by making it brandable so that the person passing it on can add their affiliate links, or even their "home page" address to it. For example:

"This eBook is brought to you by JoeBloggs.com"

If it's a free to sell eBook (which means: if you have a copy of the eBook, you have the automatic right to sell it yourself. In a sense these are resale rights that automatically roll from one eBook owner to the next) - have a ready-made and professional website and sales page linked to from within the eBook, so that it's easy for people to start selling it.

And if the offer, sales copy, website and product are all high quality, the eBook should sell well for everyone who resells it, which means it quickly spreads far and wide for you.

If you give everyone who gets a copy of the eBook a way to profit it will just keep on spreading for years to come. This has been my experience. Search for my name in Google to see this first hand.

And pay attention to the rights you give the eBook - loose rights for an eBook will help it spread far and wide quickly. Specify the rights within the first page or two of the eBook so there's no confusion. And don't just say "Master Rights". Explain the rights in an easy to understand way.

And let me also say that the more eBooks you create, the larger the "Viral Net" you'll have out there working for you to bring you visitors every single day.

I've personally been creating viral eBooks for around three years as I write this, and have over thirty eBooks out there on thousands upon thousands of web sites. AND - on tens of thousands (even hundreds of thousands) of personal computers around the world. And all these eBooks are working automatically every day to bring traffic back to my site.

Starting your own Viral eBook library can do the same for you.

Continuous Training!

Collective Courtesy

I don't know what you are promoting, or what methods you prefer, but I'll bet I know one thing for sure. When you post an ad, display a banner, or enter your site into a traffic rotation, you want people to take the time to look at your offer.

The question is, are you taking the time to extend this same courtesy to your fellow netpreneurs? Or, are you one of those people who:

-Uses special software to cheat manual traffic exchanges

-Uses a mailbox cleaner to avoid reading any of the ads your fellow safelisters send you

-Hides the banner exchange code where none can see it

Too many networkers try to "beat the system" by taking, but never giving. What if everyone had this attitude? What would be the point of networking, if nobody read the ads we posted, viewed our sites on the exchange circuit, or payed any attention to our banners?

More importantly, how can those of us who want to succeed do so with an ever growing "cheat trend"? One possible answer, I believe, is to express the same kind of consideration we want for ourselves toward others.

Near the close of the 19th century, a small group of biologists gathered on an island near Japan to study the habits of the local ape population. During the course of their observations, these scientists took note of an unexplainable phenomenon later dubbed "The 100th Monkey Syndrome".

The short version of this story is this: According to the records kept by these biologists, once a certain number of apes were taught a particular behavior, a "critical mass" was reached, and all other apes on the island, whether they had been exposed to the new behavior or not, immediatley adopted the knowledge taught to the original group. In essence, it has been proven that a collective effort to learn can and does affect every member of a given society.

If a group of primates has this wonderful ability to draw from a collective intention, surely we can do the same. By having a positive attitude, and treating other people's efforts with the same respect we feel entitled to, we can improve everyone's chances of success.

What the Internet Owes Me!

 What the Internet Owes Me

by Tim Whiston

What does the internet owe me for all my hard work? What am I entitled to in return for the money I spend advertising my business every month? What, in the grand scheme of things, do I rightly deserve for giving 100% of myself to the success of my networking ventures? Not a single thing.

Don't misunderstand me here. The question is not "What would I like to see in the way of profits from my efforts?" Clearly, I hope and work for the best possible results.

However, my projections and anticipations are an entirely seperate issue for the moment. The matter at hand is the ideal the we deserve success because, after all, the internet "levels the playing field".

I read a lot of forum posts made by people who "just don't know what to do" or "are almost out of money (sob)". I can almost hear the whine in their voice as I read their little pity rant.

I'm sorry to see people struggling with money issues, and I know it can be very frustrating to work so hard at a venture and make zilch after months of perseverance. I've been there before, and I'll probably be there again because that's life for everyone but the Rockefellars.

Business is risk, and there is no guarantee. This is something we need to continually remind ourselves of.

I remember when one of my first attempts to make money on the web wasn't working out like I had hoped. I was throwing my own pity party, and I invited a friend via IM. After a brief exchange of "How's it going?" type stuff, I let fly with the moaning and groaning.

"I don't understand it. I'm spending hours a day on this thing, and I've dumped $400 into advertising within the last four weeks. Why am I not seeing the results I want?"

The victim of my energy sapping whimper fest casually told me he had spent $6,000 on one of his ventures during the previous year, and that things were starting to go pretty well for that project. There was a brief pause in the conversation as I realized I was being cordially told to quit with the whining.

It was a nice reality check for me. What had I been thinking? Did I honestly expect to make a fortune in a month's time just because I had been working really hard and spending a decent amount of money on advertising?

After all, my online business is a long term commitment. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new endeavor. A tremendous amount of hard work and the wise use of one's resources will usually pay off, but it may take a while for this to manifest.

To borrow a few of the words used by Clint Eastwood in his film Unforgiven: "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it..."

Email Appropriate Ad Copy!

Email Appropriate Ad Copy

This article is more along the lines of a rant, and should be skipped by the faint-hearted reader. Having given the proper disclaimer, let's get right to the point of making fun of some really bad promotional copy.

A lot of people don't seem to appreciate the difference between a classified ad and a solo ad delivered via email. Here's a nice piece of work I found in my inbox recently:

"Cialis Soft Tabs: perfect feeling of being men again.
Starts working within just 15 minutes.
This is not miracle. This is just Soft Tabs"

Never mind the product I'm being spammed about, let's just focus on the copy structure. It's about what I would expect from a junior high student who is advertising this month's fund raiser. A great way to tell your prospects that you are a complete amateur is to begin your ad body with the name of your product and a colon. Should your reader somehow maintain faith and continue past this point, a few choppy phrases and some lousy grammar should effectively eliminate the sale for you. Yep, the above ad is a wonderful example of how to avoid cultivating interest in your target.

Here's another shining example of how to embarrass yourself and seriously damage any shot at future credibility.

"hello evey one I have found a program that might intrest you.
Are you making any money online yet!
Here is a global system that dose 95% of your work for you.
There is no other system like it and you can view it for free Today. Networkers are going crazy over this system!"

Easy there slick. Might want to take just a couple of seconds to make sure you have your spelling and sentence structure in order. Ever hear of a paragraph?

The program being advertised above must be really special, because the affiliate got so excited he/she forgot to communicate like a full grown adult. I guess all the profit this killer sales copy is generating has them giddy.

I'm not making a judgement about anyone's intelligence here. I can tell you with confidence that I'm not the brightest bulb in any batch. I just want to express the importance of taking your time and actually composing a message.

Keep in mind the ads I'm showing you were in my mailbox. Had they turned up while I was browsing a links page or text ad board, I would have found their format (minus the poor grammar) acceptable.

People don't want to see cookie cutter ads in their inbox. The act of placing such adverts stands tall and shouts "I am an immense cheese ball without tact or shame".

Let's look at yet another winner. The following is a very typical illustration of how to blow the best thing since sliced bread angle.

"$5 Infinity PAYLINE! Be FIRST! Just Launchd
People are singing up every minute!!"

Not even sure what this person was promoting. I mean really, if this is the best message they could devise for grabbing my attention and rousing my curiosity, I'll just move on. I see dozens of these ads on a daily basis, and frankly, they all tend to run together. A little originality is in order for those who plan to sweep their readers away in a current of hype and urgency.

Again, the above ad may have worked well on a classified site, had the marketer at least checked their spelling. But it does nothing more than agitate the reader who finds it among their daily emails.

If someone expects me to spend money, request more information, or even visit their website, they are well advised to send me a valid piece of communication. A real message, complete with interesting dialogue and an identifiable point, is needed when communicating via email.

Consider this analogy. Let's say you are browsing the local newspaper, and you see the following advert:

"Closeout Deals!
Massive liquidation event this Friday!
Merchandise discounted up to 50%
All stock must be sold!"

While this example is certainly not dramatic or revolutionary, it may cause you to stop for a second to see which local retailer is having the sale. It's pretty much the kind of ad your are expecting to see when you read the paper.

On the other hand, imagine finding the same ad among your daily postage. Would you be prone to look into the "Massive liquidation event", or would you discard the flyer while muttering something about junk mail?

Well, I'm pretty much out of breath for now. Thanks a lot for letting me get that off my chest. Sometimes a good tantrum clears the mind.
